EP50: Getting a PhD in Me | Codependency, Boundaries, and Becoming — Netanya Interviewed by Reed Hendricks

What does it actually cost to dismantle the life you knew and rebuild yourself from the ground up?

When I share how I’ve changed my life, it comes from knowing what it feels like to be completely broken and lost—and choosing, day after day, to pick myself up off the kitchen floor and rewrite who I am. I share this story to give that journey a voice, and in doing so, give you permission to do the same.

In this deeply personal 50th episode, I'm stepping into the guest seat on my own podcast to reflect on five and a half years of sobriety, letting go of codependency, and the work of rebuilding. Joined by my friend Reed Hendricks, we unpack releasing fear, healing old wounds, and what it really took to transition from total self-abandonment to learning how to receive true self-worth.

Three big shifts we explore in this conversation:

  • Getting a "PhD in Me": Confronting my past, practicing letting go of control, and shifting from surviving to intentionally designing a life I love.

  • The "Nice" Mask vs. True Boundaries: Why being "nice" was often just a tool for people-pleasing, and how learning to say "no" transformed my relationships.

  • Consulting My Future Self: The daily practice of making choices based on the brave, evolved version of who I am becoming—rather than the fear-based habits of who I used to be.

At the heart of our conversation is a reminder: "How incredible of an opportunity it is to be so available for your own evolution." From an emotional letter to my six-year-old self to navigating the messy process of teaching people how to treat me, this episode is a raw, unfiltered look at grace, growth, and stepping into your power.
